Ashford a Community Organiser from Chirk always believed that her
local station could benefit from a little community involvement.
Working with Sheila Dee, the Community Rail Officer for the
Chester-Shrewsbury Rail Partnership she set about organising a group
that would ‘adopt’ the station. After community meetings a core
group was established and discussions took place with the train
operating company, Arriva Trains Wales. The Friends adopted Chirk as
part of the Arriva ‘Adopt a Station’ project.
